Sounds of Silver by LCD Sound System |
| Sure, this might be over hyped, but it IS a great record. Think Talking Heads meets electronica meets James Brown meets King Crimson. Great stuff. |

Accelerate by R.E.M. |
| I have to admit, I never thought they would make another great album again. R.E.M. is one of my favorite bands and one of the most important bands in popular music. It's been a hard 10 years for us fans listening to the crap that the've put out BUT this is simply wonderful. Very loud, trashy, fun and it sounds fresh. Everything they said Monster would be but wasn't. |

Jimmy Carter, The Man from Plains by Jonathan Demme |
| Great Documentary on President Carters Book tour (Palastine: Peace not Apartheid) and the controversy that comes about. Essentially, Carter writes a balanced look on the Israeli and Palastinian conflict but challenges Israel to look at how they are conducting themselves. Carter is probably the most important ex-president that we've ever had. This is a wonderful film. |

My Mother's Hymn Book by Johnny Cash |
| This is the work of which Johnny Cash is most proud. It's his favorite recording he's ever done. A collection of spirituals from his mother's "Heavenly Highway" hymn book, MMHB will haunt you in the most wonderful way. |

Freaks & Geeks |
| My girlfriend had to completely cajole me to watch this TV series and I'm glad she did. I was totally against the idea of spending my time in front of the devil box until I saw "Freaks & Geeks." It is a very real program in the vein of "The Wonder Years," only it takes place in early '80s Michigan. What a lost time that was. I love it. |

The Frontiersmen by Allan W. Eckert |
| "The Frontiersmen is a nerdy book for history buffs. It's a narrative history of the opening of Kentucky and the great Northwest Territory -- Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin and part of Minnesota -- during the period 1755 to 1836, through events of the French and Indian War, the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812. |
